CNN Business seeks newsdesk editor in Hong Kong

CNN Business is hiring a Newsdesk Editor in Hong Kong to enhance its digital coverage of Asia, focusing on technology, markets and economy, transportation, consumer business and media.

Reporting to the Asia Editor, CNN Business, the Newsdesk Editor will help shape our coverage by finding and developing stories of importance for audiences in Asia-Pacific and around the globe. This is a player-coach role: The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate strong writing and reporting skills, as well as an ability to edit articles.

The ideal candidate will have experience reporting and writing for a global digital publication, with a track record of producing a strong and consistent body of work that is competitive and makes an impact.

He or she will also be able to demonstrate the ability to work across teams inside a global news organization.

What will you be doing?

• Finding and assigning important business stories in Asia-Pacific that will appeal to audiences around the world
• Working closely with a team of reporters to identify and elevate key trends and storylines, and then to prioritize assignments in a way that keeps CNN Business competitive and relevant.
• Editing breaking news, features and enterprise articles for accuracy, context, clarity, fairness and newsworthiness, and providing feedback to reporters as required.
• Reporting and writing stories to ensure that CNN Business provides audiences with rich and diverse content from Asia-Pacific.
• Working closely with CNN correspondents, writers and editors in Hong Kong, around the region and further afield on newsgathering.
• Identifying opportunities to contribute content for sponsored series on CNN Business.
