CNBC seeks news desk associate

CNBC is seeking a news desk associate to work at its New Jersey headquarters.

• Assist CNBC Business News Show with the coordination of elements for daily Business program.
• Find background information on a wide range of business and financial news stories, using a variety of sources such as the Internet, newspapers, and magazines.
• Screen and coordinate phone calls for segments.
• Assist with charts and storm boards before the show.
• Research segment ideas and segment information as directed by the producer and senior producer of the show.
• Assist producers with story production.
• Coordinate production requests.
• Produce and edit web video for the program.

Qualifications/Requirements

• BA degree in journalism or business; or an equivalent degree
• 2 years of Production Associate experience.
•Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work with others under tight deadlines is critical.
• Must be a self-starter and be able to make quick, editorially sound decisions while remaining calm under pressure.
• Must be familiar with stocks and ticker symbols. Ideal candidate must be able to multi-task, and have experience working in live television.

Desired Characteristics

• Business news knowledge is a huge plus. Proficiency with systems, especially the iNews computer system is preferred.
• Highly organized and detail oriented
• Strong analytical skills
• Exceptional interpersonal & teamwork skills, exhibiting proven ability to work collaboratively, with individuals at all levels, and across all functional groups.
• Proactive thinker / self-starter
• Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
• High energy level with ability to take initiative
• Excellent phone skills
