CNBC seeks investing reporter

CNBC is seeking a reporter who will be responsible for writing about markets, individual stocks, Wall Street analysts and investors. The types of stories written by the reporter will include quick-hitting short stories on the action of the day, as well as longer pieces involving reporting over several days or weeks.

The reporters daily responsibilities will include:

-Monitoring Wall Street research
-Monitoring market chatter
-Monitoring financial markets for interesting moves
-Working with CNBC TV to turn interviews into great stories

Qualifications/Requirements

-At least three years of business reporting experience
-Specific experience writing about stocks, bonds and currencies
-Knowledge of financial markets and why they move the way they do
-Wall Street sources that keep you apprised of market movements
-Ability to file fast, clean copy

Desired Characteristics

Candidates must be self-motivated with a passion for writing about Wall Street and investing. They must demonstrate knowledge of the trends and people making news in investing right now.

Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
