City AM seeks a senior business reporter

City AM is looking for a Senior Business Reporter to join its team of business journalists, based in the City of London newsroom.

Applicants should have at least three years experience of full-time business and financial journalism, covering corporate and financial news, and a deep interest in the UK’s financial institutions and large listed and private businesses.

The successful candidate will have a flare for business news and an eye for creative, online journalism. In addition, they should be able to find and develop original stories, conduct interviews, write features and analysis and show a willingness to pitch in with the wider operations of a busy newsroom. Experience covering energy and infrastructure would be welcome, but is not essential.

The Senior Business Reporter will work closely with the City Editor (on editorial) and the Managing Editor (on digital strategy and audience growth). They should be comfortable with breaking news and rapid reaction as well as developing deeper, off-diary stories.

The Senior Business Reporter should be comfortable in a multimedia environment; operating in a digital-first newsroom while also writing for print and working on camera in the City AM Studio.

Applicants should submit a CV and cover letter to rupert.hargreaves@cityam.com, along with at least two links (or attachments) to recent high-impact stories.

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Closing date: Noon on Thursday 17 July
