The Chicago Tribune is seeking a digital-first editor to lead its business, financial and consumer coverage. The successful editor thinks both creatively and critically and is a tested manager who is comfortable leading change. The business editor works directly with other editors and reporters in the department to create a constant flow of content that finds an audience and engages readers.
We do not seek cookie-cutter business coverage. We are in the midst of an exciting reinvention of business coverage in one of America’s most vibrant business cities.
Our areas of interest are defined primarily by our readers and include health, food, work/life, the business of sports and how consumers can get the most for their money. We strive to break news and create impact journalism that resonates with our readers and creates a difference in our community.
We work in a collaborative newsroom that is the dominant local news source in an exceptionally competitive landscape.
If you have proven yourself as an editor at a high level and can add insight, smarts and sweat to our effort to create a new kind of business department, I’d like to hear from you.
To apply, send a cover letter and a resume to Mike Kellams, assistant managing editor of business, at mkellams@tribune.com.
