Chicago Tribune seeking biz reporter

October 10, 2013

Posted by Chris Roush

he Chicago Tribune business section seeks an experienced business reporter and lively writer to cover these companies and other packaged foods, beverage, restaurant and grocery operators.

The successful candidate will be able to look beyond corporate decision-making to chronicle the broad impact of the food business on our readers’ lives. This is a beat that requires an eye for anthropology as well as economics. Consider how Food Inc. directly relates to such crucial issues as obesity, marketing to children and the Venti Latte.

As a member of our award-winning team, the food writer will toggle between writing breaking news for the web and print and reporting out sophisticated, in-depth pieces. Applicants should have a track record of breaking news, spotting trends and producing watchdog stories.

If you’re up for a challenge and a great beat, please send via email clips, resume and cover letter to Michael Lev, Associate Managing Editor/Business, Chicago Tribune at MLev@tribune.com.  Subject heading: Food reporter.
