Chicago Tribune Media Group seeks a general assignment journalist, metro desk

Versatile breaking news journalist who can juggle assignments with executing compelling enterprise for the metro desk.

What you will do:

  • Cover breaking news and general assignment work for the metro desk
  • Identify longer-term enterprise stories.
  • Shifts may include afternoons, evenings and potentially some weekend work.

What you will bring:

  • The successful applicant has a track record of executing breaking stories on a tight deadline that demonstrate crisp writing, accuracy, commitment to fair play
  • The ability to tell stories about people that go beyond the statistics.
  • We also place high value on insightful reporting and a commitment to serving the public good by exposing inequities and holding the powerful to account.
  • We are looking for a journalist who is collaborative, creative, collegial, high energy and dogged in pursuit of the story.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
