Cheddar seeks a field producer

Cheddar is a new kind of business and culture news delivered via live video, aimed at people in their 20s and 30s, broadcasted over the internet.

Summary:

We’re looking for a creative, driven and experienced Field Producer to oversee our daily live shots and special event coverage. The candidate will have experience working in live news with an expertise in digital and social media. A sophisticated knowledge of business news and personal finance is necessary, paired with a broad cultural awareness, and an instinct for what’s trending.

The candidate must also be able to constantly find newsworthy live events to cover knowing you have limited resources for your coverage plans — you must choose your subjects wisely. You must be an expert in all things Facebook Live and Periscope including how to publish and create events that drive meaningful traffic. He or she must be adaptable and flexible, a team player who is able to mix easily and work effectively in our small, scrappy and highly collaborative team.

Responsibilities:

  • Expertise in supervising field shoots and conducting interviews.
  • Expertise in Facebook Live and Periscope.
  • Effectively coordinate coverage with various departments (producers, production, anchors, social media managers) to execute coverage plans.
  • Generating exceptional story ideas, including breaking news and creative story angles
.
  • Ability to jump into action when duty calls.
  • Produce numerous live shots and interviews on a daily basis.
  • Build show graphics and elements in rundown software
.
  • Write scripts for live programming
.
  • Coordinate with Executive Producer to make great editorial decisions — with a keen eye on technology, culture & media

Requirements:

  • Experience in financial journalism and live production
  • Knowledge of news video/TV production
  • Excellent research and writing skills
  • Strong grammar, copyediting and communication skills
  • Familiarity with SEO, RSS, Twitter, Facebook and other social media
