Central Penn Business Journal seeks reporter
The Central Penn Business Journal has an immediate opening for an experienced reporter to cover health care, education and nonprofits in our five-county coverage area as well as business in Lancaster County.
The award-winning CPBJ publishes daily online (www.cpbj.com) and weekly in print and also produces a series of supplemental publications with a targeted focus. We’re based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania’s capital city, which boasts a low cost of living and proximity to Baltimore, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. Our readers – and your sources — are primarily the region’s business owners, executives and decision-makers.
The ideal candidate will have strong research, writing and planning skills; proven ability to develop sources and beat expertise; a gift for explaining complex topics without jargon; and familiarity with multimedia and social media reporting tools. Because you will be based in our Lancaster office, you also need to be comfortable working independently as well as on a team. Experience of one to two years with a business publication or section is preferred.
The CPBJ offers an excellent compensation and benefits package and a positive work environment. We were voted “Best Business Journal in the Country” by the Alliance of Area Business Publications in 2009, have won the Sweepstakes Award multiple times for best publication in our circulation category in the Pennsylvania Newspapers Association’s Keystone Awards competition and have been honored regularly by the Society of Professional Journalists.
