CCTV America seeks anchor for business program

CCTV America seeks an experienced journalist to anchor its flagship business program at its headquarters in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities include presenting a one hour, five-days-a-week global economic and business program; reporter hits into other programming; generating and shaping story ideas in conjunction with the executive producer and planning team; writing scripts; coaching and mentoring reporters, producers and writers; possible field reporting and presenting during breaking news situations; engaging on all social media platforms; doing the occasional public appearances on behalf of the network; establishing and maintaining news contacts in the international community – all with a strong attention to detail. There will also be other duties as assigned.

Candidate must also show a willingness to work flexible and irregular hours.

Qualifications:

-Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
-Ability to work gracefully under pressure
– A minimum of 4 years of on-air work — preferably presenting news
– Strong prompter reading skills
– Proven strong interviewing skills in a live broadcast situation
– Proven ability to handle live breaking news
-Ability to seamlessly ad-lib live on air
-Ability to collaborate in a team environment
-Proven strong research skills
-Proven success in generating story ideas
-Ability to actively engage in all social media platforms
-Proven success in mentoring and coaching reporters and writers
-Proven success as a newsroom leader
-Good knowledge of the global economy, financial markets, and business
-A proven command of excellent writing skills
-Ability to do strong in-the-field reporting
-Proven experience in an international newsroom setting
-Globally minded in outlook
