CBS Mornings seeks a supervising producer

CBS Mornings is seeking a hard-working, creative, and enterprising Supervising Producer to join the team coordinating the broadcast’s tape output for air! The ideal candidate will have a firm command of journalistic standards, attention to detail, a keen eye in the edit room, as well as excellent newsgathering and time management skills. They must have previous experience working for a live news broadcast, the ability to be calm and efficient during breaking news and be a cooperative member of a newsroom.

This is an overnight in-person position leading up to our live broadcast which airs Monday – Friday 7:00 – 9:00am.

Additional duties include:

  • Exercise editorial judgment in selection of content
  • Manage producers and editors to craft day-of-air tape reports — including launching pieces, fixing or finalizing existing pieces (i.e. adding fresh elements, graphics, tracks), and cutting pretapes, teases, clips and b-roll
  • Ability to find and pull specific video and soundbites to produce compelling content
  • Coordinate with senior broadcast producer and control room
  • Proven track record of team management with a positive culture

Skills:

  • 8+ years of journalism experience in live TV news
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and reacting with thoughtful programming ideas and creative storytelling
  • Demonstrated ability to make editorial decisions under intense deadline demands
  • Strong background in video production and editing
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Understanding of newsgathering and transmission technology
  • Proven track record of dealing with breaking news and developing stories to take them to air

Hiring Salary Range: $110,000.00 – 140,000.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies.
