California paper seeks wine industry reporter

Posted by Chris Roush

The Press Democrat, a division of Sonoma Media Investments, is seeking an experienced business reporter to cover the wine industry, one of our signature beats, and other general business news.

This is an opportunity to live in California’s Wine Country and cover Sonoma County’s flagship industry. We are not looking for a wine critic to sip and score wine. We want an aggressive and creative business reporter who can develop sources, break news, analyze trends and write about complex dynamics with clarity, speed, depth and authority. You must be able to juggle spot news, online posts and high-impact enterprise. Computer-assisted reporting skills and the ability to engage readers across print and digital platforms will elevate you above other applicants.

Job Requirements:

*  Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field

*  At least two years’ experience with a daily newspaper or similar publication

*  Spanish language skills preferred

*  Multimedia skills required

*  Video skills preferred

The Press Democrat values the contribution of their employees and offers a competitive compensation plan. We also offer an array of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life, accident insurance and paid time off.

Additionally, we are committed to a drug and alcohol free workplace. Any job offer is conditional upon satisfactorily completing a background investigation and pre-employment drug testing.

To be considered please submit a cover letter, resume and up to six samples of your best work to: hr@pressdemocrat.com and put the title of the position you are applying for in the subject line.
