The Butler Eagle, a family-owned daily newspaper covering Butler County in Western Pennsylvania, is seeking an experienced editor with the ability to help our team produce high-quality community journalism, contribute to the leadership team and mentor young journalists.
The ideal candidate for our evening editor position would have a background as a strong writer and copy editor with a passion for local journalism. Our coverage spans Butler County, which encompasses rapidly developing areas with a variety of businesses as well as rural areas with a focus on agriculture.
The evening editor works from 3 to 11 p.m. to take point in producing our print edition, working with our on-site copy desk while also ensuring any breaking news gets to our digital audience in a timely fashion and working with seven news reporters. Page layout skills are appreciated.
The person who is hired for this role must be a team player with the ability to communicate well. This editor also works directly with a team of other editors, a social media specialist, a photography team and a number of correspondents.
This editor may also play a role in writing editorials and assist in preparing special sections, leading special projects, preparing content for the weekly Cranberry Eagle and monthly Business Matters publications.
The full-time, in-house position comes with 401K plan, insurance options, paid holidays and vacation time.
