The Bozeman Daily Chronicle is seeking a reporter to cover K-12 education and Montana State University.
Responsibilities:
- This reporter will focus on a wide variety of education issues and will cover all of Bozeman’s K-12 schools and Montana State University, one of two flagship colleges in Montana.
- This reporter will provide coverage of the local school board, statewide education officials and the Montana Board of Regents.
- The beat offers the opportunity to do high-level accountability reporting.
- We want someone who can juggle daily stories while chipping away at long-term enterprise projects.
- The best candidates will be curious about education and confident in their ability to translate bureaucratic jargon and complicated science for the average reader.
You would join a fun newsroom full of talented reporters. The Chronicle publishes in print five days a week and has a 24/7 online presence. Bozeman is the county seat of Gallatin County in southwest Montana. It offers easy access to spectacular hiking, skiing and fly-fishing. Yellowstone National Park is less than two hours away.
Qualification:
- Candidates should have a four-year degree in journalism or a related field.
- Some experience preferred, but recent college grads will be considered.
