The Boston Globe is looking for a dynamic digital reporter for BostonGlobe.com’s Business department.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for online storytelling and a dedication to the type of deep, meaningful journalism that the Globe produces. The digital reporter will report and write about a variety of local and national business topics for BostonGlobe.com, working closely with the department’s editors and other reporters. The reporter will also assist the editor of BostonGlobe.com in achieving traffic goals and increasing user engagement. This position will be based at 135 Morrissey Boulevard in Boston.
Key responsibilities:
- Work with the Business editor, BostonGlobe.com editor, and other key stakeholders to meet goals of growing traffic and producing superior journalism
- Break news consistently and produce timely stories on important Business topics
- Report and write 3-5 stories a day for BostonGlobe.com
- Monitor traffic and drive user-engagement to stories
- Capitalize on digital trends and memes
- Maintain an active Twitter presence and cultivate a dedicated social media following
- Add video, photos, and other multimedia elements to stories when appropriate
- Maintain and enforce journalistic best-practices that uphold Globe principles
Experience and skill:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- At least 3-5 years experience in online reporting
- Demonstrated knowledge of Business journalism in a major news market
- Proven track record in achieving editorial goals and driving growth
- Ability to work in a rapidly changing, dynamic environment
- Motivated, self-starter, independent, results oriented and professional
- Willingness to innovate, explore new ideas and acquire new skills
- Drive, determination, attention to detail and commitment to excellence
