BostInno seeks tech writer

We’re looking for a writer who will be first to tell the world about the next big thing, whether it’s a mobile app for cat photos or a robotic exoskeleton that helps injured people learn to walk again.

Boston is one of the world’s greatest hubs for a wide range of high-tech startups. From sports tech to food innovation to the backbone of the Internet, in Boston we build big things. BostInno is at the hub of that citywide enterprise. We’re the primary source of information for Boston’s future business leaders: The college students, researchers and young entrepreneurs who are here to make discoveries and start companies.

To cover this world successfully at BostInno, you must be:

A newshound – You follow breaking news obsessively. You have relationships that others don’t and you get scoops first.

A reader – You know what readers are talking about and the angles that make a story interesting, because you are a reader yourself. You may be the world’s most avid consumer of news.

Social – You understand networks digital and personal as venues for giving and receiving information, not platforms for broadcasting it.

A team player – You enjoy working with a team to accomplish something you could never do as an individual.

Fun – You exude positive energy that excites both your colleagues and your readers.

Entrepreneurial and forward-thinking – You don’t just want to watch technology change how consumers get their news. You want to be a driving force in that change.

Responsibilities

Become an insider in your beat. Write breaking news and enterprise stories that make your readers feel like insiders.

Use traffic metrics and qualitative measures of success to always be looking at how you can improve.

Get out: People on your beat know you as a face, not just a byline.

Write killer headlines.

Think visually: Finding and creating great images and videos is part of every writer’s job, here.

Distribute: Your work isn’t done when you hit publish. A critical part of your job is getting your story in front of people who are interested.

Uphold Streetwise values and expectations.

To apply, please email your resume and clips/writing samples to streetwisemedia@applications.recruiterbox.com with “BostInno Tech Startups Writer” in the subject line.
