Bloomberg TV/Radio seeks a news director in San Francisco

Bloomberg TV and Radio has a rare opportunity for a News Director to lead our coverage of technology based out of our San Francisco bureau.

Candidates should have a passion for innovation and technology, extensive leadership experience managing talent and production teams. This person will have extensive sourcing in the Bay Area and beyond. The News Director will assist with coverage planning, guest booking, overall news direction and potential on-air contributions. Candidates should have the ability to unite teams in different geographic locations across the globe to cover stories with one voice to best serve multiple platforms.

WE’LL TRUST YOU TO:

  •  Executive produce and direct news across Bloomberg Television and Radio that brings business, innovation, and technology into focus for the Bloomberg audience
  •   Unify and harness newsroom resources across the globe to deliver well-told, balanced technology/business stories to Bloomberg
  •   Contribute on-air across our platforms as needed to help tell important details of breaking news in the technology space
  •   Network across the Silicon Valley area keeping a pulse on the news events of the moment while working to attract top newsmaker interviews to Bloomberg
  •   Raise the profile of Bloomberg Technology in the Bay Area and beyond making it a must-see for news makers and Bloomberg customers worldwide
  •   Build a strong internal communication network between platforms that shares news planning strategies, production elements and guest booking statuses to magnify story telling with one balanced voice

YOU’LL NEED TO HAVE:

  •   Bachelor’s degree
  •   10+ years of mid-major market TV/radio experience
  •   Strong and balanced news judgment
  •   TV/Radio management skills supervising talent and production staffs

Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
