Bloomberg seeks power/gas reporter in Houston

You’re a tenacious reporter with a proven track record of breaking news. You will join our Houston office to take over coverage of liquefied natural gas and regional power markets and utilities. You will be expected to break news on LNG developments and power markets in the Americas and write broader stories about trends in electricity and gas.

We’ll trust you to:

  • Cover breaking news with uncanny speed and accuracy
  • Write for a range of platforms, including Bloomberg Businessweek
  • Be a self-starter who can work calmly in a high-pressure environment

You’ll need to have:

  • A minimum of two years reporting on energy markets
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • An ability to write quickly, concisely and accurately under tight deadlines

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
