Bloomberg News is seeking a reporter or editor with fluent French and the ability to work in at least one other of the following languages: German, Spanish, Italian or Russian. Additional European languages are a plus. This position will be based in Washington, DC with a shift that starts in the late morning or early afternoon and usually ends by 9:30 p.m. local time.
Candidates must have experience in quickly assessing press releases for breaking news, and be able to stay on top of developments in major business, financial, macroeconomic and government stories. The successful candidate will write headlines and brief, breaking news stories in a real-time format from press releases but also from government announcements, website updates and other media sources as needed. The candidate will serve an audience of real-time news consumers and should be comfortable working in a high pressure, time-sensitive, team environment.
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
– Minimum 3 years of experience in a financial and/or journalism setting
– Ability to write quickly, concisely and accurately in English under deadline pressure and handle a wide variety of topics
– Organizational skills, ability to take initiative, ability to multi-task, ability to adapt to new tools and functionality are essential
– Strong work ethic and team player
