Bloomberg seeks options reporter

Bloomberg News is seeking a reporter in our New York office covering U.S. stocks and options for First Word.

The person in this role will be responsible for providing on-the-spot, concise written stories involving moves in the options markets and other equity derivatives, including tracking possible M&A targets/acquirers, daily ETF flows, commodity options.

Responders to this ad should have experience covering equities in a real-time environment either at a news organization, investment bank or hedge fund. Reporters should have the ability and industry-specific knowledge to immediately discern actionable information from breaking news and have strong writing skills.

Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
-Strong work ethic, team player, ability to work calmly in high-pressure environment

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
