Bloomberg seeks oil reporter for First Word in Houston

Bloomberg News is seeking a reporter for its First Word Oil service to cover physical refined products markets on the Gulf Coast and U.S. Midcontinent.

This position will be based out of our Houston office.

Candidates will have experience covering petroleum markets, with in-depth knowledge of North America. They must have deep and broad contacts in the trader community and be able to write for that audience. The individual will be responsible for providing fast and concise breaking news on flows, supply, demand, arbitrages and their impact on prices as well as larger stories and columns.

Knowledge of Bloomberg’s energy functions and data is a plus.

All candidates must have strong writing skills and will be expected to develop new contacts.

Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
-Minimum of three years of oil markets experience
-Strong work ethic, team player, ability to work calmly in high-pressure environment
-An understanding of U.S. oil and refined product markets
