Bloomberg News seeks a seasoned, outstanding reporter in New York to cover the high-profile media beat.

The media business — from advertising to TV to publishing to film — is rapidly being upended, driving a wave of mergers and restructuring that are reshaping the mogul power structure. We want someone who can break the biggest news first, as well as step back and explain the ongoing evolution with crisp, clear prose and unique story angles. The ideal candidate would have experience covering the media industry, along with established sources and the ability to develop new ones.

The applicant should have a passion for breaking news, excellent reporting and writing skills, a competitive spirit, and an eagerness to collaborate with other media, telecom and technology reporters at Bloomberg News. The candidate should be able to produce a variety of stories, including executive profiles, analyses of company strategy or industry trends, stories on financial performance, short blog posts and long-form narrative and investigative projects. A candidate with experience writing for audiences across the Web, magazines or social media would be a plus.

Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
-Experience covering the media industry
-Minimum of three years of experience in journalism, preferably business reporting
-Ability to write quickly and concisely on deadline, while working gracefully under pressure -Knowledge of the economy, financial markets and business
