Bloomberg seeks First Word oil reporter in Calgary

Bloomberg News is seeking a reporter for its First Word Oil service as it expands coverage of physical oil markets in the Americas. This position will be primarily focused on breaking news on Canadian and West Coast U.S. crude markets and will be based out of our Calgary office. The role will also involve refinery and pipeline outages and developments for those regions, in coordination with the rest of the team.

Candidates will have experience analyzing oil markets globally, with in-depth knowledge of inter-region flows in North America. They must have deep and broad contacts in the trader community and be able to write for that audience. The individual will be responsible for providing fast and concise breaking news on oil flows, supply, demand, arbitrages and their impact on prices.

All candidates must have strong writing skills and will be expected to develop new contacts.

Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
-Minimum of three years of oil markets experience
-Strong work ethic, team player, ability to work calmly in high-pressure environment
-Knowledge of Bloomberg’s energy functions and data is a plus.
