Bloomberg News is seeking an experienced editor for our expanding coverage of energy markets news, particularly oil markets, across the Middle East and Africa.
The job will be based in Dubai. The successful candidate will work with a number of experienced reporters as well as freelancers across both regions and will integrate fully with European-based oil markets reporters, editors and leaders to ensure we are first with breaking stories about oil, OPEC, natural gas, refineries, petrochemicals and shipping.
The candidate will be responsible for identifying scheduled and breaking news that affects oil market, making sure those are on Bloomberg first and guiding reporters on improving coverage and encourage enterprise ideas. Responsibilities include monitoring other media and writing news summaries.
Qualifications:
-Ability to edit quickly and concisely under deadline pressure
-Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and relevant work experience
-Journalism experience is essential and working in a real-time news environment is desirable
-Experience covering the Middle East and/or Africa is preferred
-Fluency in French, Arabic or another useful language for the region involved is an asset
