Bloomberg News is seeking an experienced and energetic editor in Washington, D.C., to join its government reporting team.
The company is looking for an editor who can handle assigning and editing all types of Washington stories for both the news service and the Web. Duties range from sending breaking-news
headlines and editing spot news to working with reporters on developing and executing enterprise.
The ideal candidate will have experience covering Washington for a real-time news service or a major newspaper. He or she will have strong news judgment and be well-organized, versatile and comfortable working in a team environment. Candidates must be able to produce clear and concise copy under intense deadline pressure and have a strong grasp of how Washington works.
Candidates should be accustomed to producing clear and comprehensive enterprise pieces, have a record of breaking or overseeing important stories and be able to edit spot news under real-time deadline pressure.
Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
-Minimum of three years of journalism experience
-Prior experience editing stories
-Ability to write quickly and concisely under deadline pressure
-Experience working as a journalist in Washington preferred
