Bloomberg seeks editor for deals team in New York

Bloomberg News is seeking an experienced editor for its expanding Deals team in the United States.

The editor would be working with reporters across the region on breaking news about corporate mergers, public offerings and the world’s biggest private-equity funds. They will also be helping coordinate coverage across industry teams and bureaus on market-moving deals. The ideal candidate will have several years of experience editing stories about companies and/or financial markets.

They will be able to produce clear, concise and accurate copy under deadline pressure. Experience editing feature stories and helping reporters develop their enterprise writing skills is an advantage. The editor will also be expected to serve as a mentor to reporters and should be comfortable working within a team environment on a high-profile group.

Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
– Knowledge of the economy, financial markets, and business
– Previous experience in business journalism

He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
