Bloomberg News seeks an experienced reporter to be based in Singapore for our economy team.
The successful candidate will be expected to propose and write breaking and enterprise stories that illustrate the economic and political situation in Singapore and surrounding Southeast Asian nations to a global audience — and their relevance to corporate developments and markets.
Responsibilities will include writing compelling enterprise stories about shifting economic and political currents in Southeast Asian nations. The reporter will help to cover breaking news from Southeast Asian finance ministries, central banks and other government departments, and be able to immediately transform this into real-time headlines and stories for trading clients.
The reporter will work within a high-pressure team environment, in which the delay of a second or less can spell the difference between a win and a loss. Responsibilities also will include securing interviews with newsmakers, attending regional conferences of high-level economic, foreign and security-policy officials.
The Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
– Proven ability to write is essential
– Experience reporting and writing features
– Experience covering ministries and government departments
– At least three years of post-graduate journalism experience for reporter’s role
– Experience working in a real-time news environment
– Knowledge of the economy, financial markets and business
