Bloomberg seeks company news editor in Hong Kong

Bloomberg News is seeking an editor in its Hong Kong bureau to edit company news from the Asia region.

He or she should be ambitious and aim to bring out the best in reporters and produce stories of the highest quality. The editor must have the skills needed to verify the accuracy of stories being filed, while writing elegantly under deadline pressure. The individual must be accustomed to producing clear and comprehensive breaking news reports as well as feature articles.

Experience on a real-time news wire is desirable and he or she must be comfortable in sending headlines and quickly writing short articles, while guiding the reporter or reporters who will write the more definitive version of the story later. He or she should have the ability to quickly make informed decisions on breaking news and be able to guide reporters on what angles to pursue. He or she must be comfortable about mentoring reporters of different abilities and work calmly in a high pressure environment.

The ability to cooperate with colleagues across Asia and elsewhere is a requirement.

Qualifications
– Experience of editing or reporting at a major media outlet is required.
– Fluency in English is a must.
– A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar capacity.
– Fluency in Mandarin or Japanese would be an advantage.
