Bloomberg seeks Asia tech editor

Bloomberg News seeks an editor to join its Asia technology team in Hong Kong or Tokyo.

This person will play a key role in helping the team leader manage more than a dozen reporters and editors in Greater China, Japan, South Korea, India and Australia covering the technology industry, including Internet companies , hardware makers, wireless carriers, startups and venture capital companies.

Responsibilities include generating and shaping ideas, editing copy, coaching and mentoring reporters and interacting with fellow editors on the team as well as across the organization. Knowledge of the technology industry and company financials is essential. An understanding of economies and financial markets is a plus. A minimum of five years of business editing experience at a major newspaper, wire service or technology blog is preferred.

The successful applicant will be able to work with reporters to produce breaking news stories under intense deadline pressure, as well as longer in-depth features, ensuring all are clear, comprehensive and accurate. Being able to take the initiative is essential.

Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
– Experience covering the technology industry
– Ability to work gracefully under pressure
– Proven success in generating story ideas
– Proven success in producing outstanding copy
– Proven success in mentoring and coaching reporters
– Minimum of five years of editing experience
– Knowledge of the economy, financial markets, and business
