Bloomberg seeks a social news desk editor

Bloomberg is looking for a social news desk editor to help guide the production team editorially for our new live streaming product on Twitter.

You’re an accomplished journalist, with a deep understanding of digital technology and industry data. You’re an innovator – and have excellent judgement, communication, and planning skills.

You’ll partner with the Managing Editor to oversee editorial across this new platform and give guidance on breaking news across the regions. You’re a compelling storyteller who will help shape and generate content with the help of our global, multidisciplinary team.

You’ll need to have:

  •  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  •  8 or more years of experience in journalism and news
  •  5 or more years working in an editorial planning/strategy role
  •  Experience working in a real-time news environment is desirable
  •  The ability to deliver information accurately in a fast-paced environment
  •  The ability to think quickly to provide insights and perspective on stories
  •  Demonstrable attention to detail and organizational skills
  •  Remarkable skills working with journalists in a rapidly changing environment
  •  An entrepreneurial, innovative and energetic approach to the job

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
