Bloomberg seeks a finance reporter in Toronto

Finance is the heartbeat of Bloomberg News. We’re seeking a creative, driven and hard-working reporter who can deliver scoops, report big stories and profile the most interesting people in Canadian finance. This position is based in Toronto, the country’s financial capital and home to two of the world’s most valuable banks, Royal Bank of Canada and Toronto-Dominion Bank.

The successful candidate will have the skill to uncover news about how Canada’s Big Six banks are adapting to a constantly evolving landscape, including their M&A ambitions and their strategies for the dealing with one of the most uncertain economic environments in a generation. They will also join our efforts to break news on the global financial sector. We’re looking for someone who wants to collaborate with others and tell our most important stories across our vast array of platforms, including the Bloomberg Terminal and web properties, Bloomberg TV and Radio, our magazines, newsletters and other products. Candidates with a strong base of contacts across the financial services industry would be preferred.

  •   Break news and uncover exclusive information on your beat
  •   Tell feature-length stories about the companies and people that matter most
  •   Work with reporters on finance and other teams to maximize our impact
  •   Show absolute commitment to accuracy, integrity and high standards

YOU’LL NEED TO HAVE:

  •   At least 5 years of business or financial journalism
  •   Experience working in a real-time news environment
  •   A working knowledge of the Canadian financial sector, including how it’s regulated
  •   A strong worth ethic and willingness to put in long hours on major stories
  •   A high level of curiosity and a desire to continuously improve
