Bloomberg seeks a business editor in Hong Kong

Bloomberg News is one of the biggest financial and business news organizations in the world. We lead the way in breaking news and providing analysis on financial markets and big business, from daily coverage through to in-depth features. We are known for our quality, accuracy and ability to deliver news investors can use. It’s what keeps us inventing and re-inventing, all the time.

We are looking for an editor to join our team covering big business in APAC, with a focus on the consumer and healthcare beats. You will work with our group of reporters spanning Sydney to Mumbai to deliver insightful stories, ranging from fast-paced breaking news to long-gestating investigations. We’re particularly interested in a candidate who can elevate our corporate coverage in South and Southeast Asia to resonate with a global audience — someone who can deftly pivot between topics like the empire-building tycoons in India, the shift in global supply chains to Vietnam and Indonesia, and the rush of regional giants to build Singapore hubs.

We’ll trust you to:

  •  Work quickly and accurately under pressure in publishing headlines and breaking news stories
  •  Be able to coach and mentor reporters while bringing your own perspective that adds depth and value
  •  Have intuitive news judgment and the confidence to make calls on coverage
  •  Use data analysis to identify exclusive story ideas
  •  Innovate with story formats while promoting diversity of thought and representation throughout our coverage
  •  Build relationships across the newsroom to ensure our coverage captures the context of local developments while resonating with global audiences

You’ll need to have:

  •  At least 5 years of recent experience in journalism
  •  Experience working in a real-time news environment
  •  Experience editing business, consumer and/or health stories
  •  Precision and style in writing and copy-editing
  •  A big-picture outlook especially on the macro environments in South and Southeast Asia
  •  Flexibility, a love of fast-paced working environments, and a resilience to change
  •  Proficiency in spoken and written English
  •  Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization
  •  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Life at Bloomberg is many things, but it’s never dull. We’re a truly global business with a truly diverse workforce. We pride ourselves on being open, inclusive and collaborative, and provide a work environment that inspires our employees to be their best. We offer competitive compensation, comprehensive healthcare coverage, and programs to support you and your family through different life stages, from parental leave to generous retirement savings plans.
