Bloomberg Opinion seeks an engagement editor

Bloomberg Opinion is seeking an Engagement Editor in New York City to help grow and energize our global audience.

This role is for a standout, short-form writer with sharp news judgment, a competitive edge, and fluency across video, audio, data visuals and, especially, social media platforms and other emerging formats. You’ll ensure every piece of our journalism is optimized for impact — from compelling copy and visuals to creative storytelling formats such as newsletters, alerts, explainers and live streams.

Working closely with columnists and editors worldwide, you’ll help drive Opinion’s subscriber strategy, shaping conversations on the most important debates of the day. You’ll also experiment boldly on and off platform, developing strategies that resonate with Bloomberg’s core readers while reaching new audiences across TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Identify opportunities to push Opinion columns into the conversation by tracking and analyzing social media data and trends
*Manage Opinion’s home page and in-app presence while collaborating with other teams to maximize reach and engagement
*Work directly with editors and writers to package major columns and features, including creating promotional plans and communicating audience best practices
*Bring a column to life using editing tools to create specialized content and taking a platform-specific approach to prioritizing content to curate various feeds
*Identify columnists strengths and key topic areas to program live panel events for our audiences on Twitter, YouTube and TikTok
*Collaborate with the video team to curate content based on breaking news needs and audience data
*Thoroughly understand the ins and outs of day-to-day Opinion operations and of the wider Bloomberg Digital organization

REQUIREMENTS:
*4 years of experience as a digital editor or social media editor at a news organization
*Demonstrated track record of driving audience development and working closely with writers and editors in a fast-paced, collaborative atmosphere
Strong editorial judgment across major news topics, particularly in business, finance and markets, technology and politics
*Countless hours of enjoying, engaging with and making content for major social platforms, like Twitter, Instagram and TikTok
*An interest in data-driven journalism and a keen eye for data visualization, trends, etc.
*Experience with photo editing tools like Photoshop and Canva, and high proficiency in analytics tools and Content Management Systems like Google Analytics, Parse.ly and TrueAnthem
*A newsroom metabolism and the ability to meet deadlines, especially during major breaking news events

Salary Range = 90000 – 125000 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus

The referenced salary range is based on the Company’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
