Bloomberg Opinion seeks a markets columnist

Bloomberg Opinion is looking for an experienced and energetic journalist with a strong understanding of markets, finance, investing, the economy and central banks.

We’re seeking someone who understands and can quickly interpret developments in the U.S. bond, stock and currencies markets in an easy-to-digest manner for a global audience. The successful candidate will be able to explain the connections between markets, the economy and central banks in a fast-paced environment. A knowledge and ability to write about the banking and money management industries is a plus.

We’ll trust you to:

  •  Deliver accurate, concise and unique commentary under tight deadlines
  •  Generate instant analysis that that focuses on the “why” and “so what”
  •  Collaborate extensively with Bloomberg Opinion colleagues around the world
  •  Be able to talk about your stories on Bloomberg TV, Bloomberg Radio, Twitter Spaces and in other social media formats

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
