Bloomberg News seeks a markets editor

The energy of a newsroom. The pace of a trading floor. At Bloomberg, we connect decision makers to a dynamic network of information, people and ideas. At the core of this network is our ability to deliver data, news and analytics through innovative technology – quickly and accurately. Around the clock, around the globe – we empower business leaders with breaking news, expert opinion and proprietary data distributed across platforms.

Role:

We’re looking for a talented, resourceful and versatile editor to work on some of the highest-profile stories at Bloomberg with the markets editing group in the Americas.

You’ll work with reporters across teams, time zones and asset classes on everything from quick turnarounds to breaking news and longer-form enterprise. You’ll have the versatility and wherewithal to edit a range of subjects, and your coverage universe will span the breadth of the financial markets — equities, ETFs, U.S. Treasuries, distressed debt, crypto and municipal finance, to name a few.

You’re a self-starter with a strong work ethic, a quick study who thrives under pressure and can navigate unfamiliar territory with aplomb. You are an efficient and well-rounded editor who’s agile enough to jump across different markets and can collaborate with a variety of teams and personalities.

You produce crisp and concise edits that resonate with a wide audience — from our most sophisticated terminal users to our casual online readers. We’ll expect you to contribute across platforms to elevate copy, mentor reporters and shape compelling story ideas. You’ll also be strongly encouraged to lead high-impact, enterprise stories that raises the bar of our markets coverage.

You’ll need to have:

  •   A minimum of 3 years of recent financial journalism experience
  •   Fluency in both spoken and written English
  •   Strong work ethic, ability to work steadily and calmly under pressure
  •   Robust attention to detail
  •   A collaborative team spirit and the drive to innovate and experiment
  •   The ability to generate ideas and ensure clear, concise, and accurate copy

Position can be based in New York, San Francisco or Los Angeles
