Bloomberg Media is looking for reporters to join the editorial team at its flagship online publication.
Reporters at Bloomberg Digital will fill a uniquely modern position that requires tenacity, speed, technical know-how, and a passion for breaking news and telling bold, important stories with authority and accuracy. Reporters are responsible for covering their beats on a day-to-day basis (quick turnaround stories, follow-ups, scoops, and exclusives) and pursue enterprising stories with longer lead times.
Deep knowledge of their beat is a must, as is impeccable sourcing and an eye for important stories (and sharp angles) in their area of coverage. A high degree of fluency with digital newsrooms is vital, as reporters must work natively in a digital environment and will be expected to collaborate with video, photo, graphics, and data visualization teams on a regular basis.
We’re looking for sharp generalists, as well as reporters who specialize in one of the following:
– The media, entertainment, and gaming industries
– Technology/Silicon Valley companies
– Startups
– Retail
– Internet Culture
– Corporate Culture
Responsibilities:
– Contribute day-to-day coverage on assigned beat, whether it’s a quick breaking news story or a thoughtful, informed analysis on an important subject
– Pitch, report, and execute stories that are enterprising, bold, creative, and that no other outlet will have (but all of them will want)
– Break news and get scoops on assigned beat. Often.
– Cultivate and maintain encyclopedic knowledge, unparalleled sourcing, and deep authority on assigned area of coverage
– Collaborate with various Bloomberg Digital teams, including video, data visualization, and design, to tell stories in bold and inventive ways
