Bloomberg BNA seeks senior editorial director

Bloomberg BNA, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bloomberg and publisher of legal and regulatory information, seeks a Senior Editorial Director – Community Site.

This individual will report to the Vice President – Cross Platform Businesses, and be responsible for building, maintaining and growing a community site with an Editorial focus on the Legal vertical. This is a role focused on all aspects of building an online community, ranging from Content Development to recruiting internal and external contributors, acting as the community’s lead moderator, and engaging with sponsors and audience members.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Operate as a thought leader and internal/external champion of the BBNA Community site business
  • Edit all content that runs on the relevant community site, and format it for HTML
  • Recruit internal and external leaders and experts to write exclusive blog content
  • Generate and assign story ideas for internal and external staff
  • Attend global events on relevant subject matter to provide original reporting
  • Write multiple blog posts per week for publication on relevant community
  • Conduct live radio and video interviews with industry experts
  • Conceptualize and record on-camera segments, often on location throughout New York
  • Recruit and work with cartoonists tasked with creating original cartoons for the relevant community
  • Collaborate with video producers and graphic designers to enhance multimedia offerings
  • Work closely with sales and marketing teams and site sponsors on custom campaigns
  • Work with designers and developers on the layout and functionality for web and mobile site
  • Build and manage a roster of community message board moderators
  • Write press releases and email blasts to promote content on the relevant community site
  • Establish and maintain look, feel, and tone of the publication
  • Actively participate on social media to boost brand, reach new users, and find relevant news
  • Work with colleagues to develop and implement the growth strategy for the relevant Community site business
  • Participate in special projects and performs other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS: 3-7 years’ of experience managing a Community including relevant Editorial experience; experience engaging with sponsors/advertisers and community audience; ability to demonstrate your experience in recruiting and managing internal and external sources for a Community site; proven track record developing and growing community via positive internal and external relationships; ability to identify new revenue opportunities and maximize community potential; knowledge of the core drivers and dynamics across online peer to peer communities; ability to work collaboratively across multiple levels of management and cross functional groups at BBNA; ability to understand the wider issues of the industry with a highly developed business acumen; excellent verbal and written business communication skills; and strong presentation, communication, negotiation, and closing skills.
