Bloomberg BNA seeks reporter

Bloomberg BNA, a publisher of legal and regulatory information, seeks a Reporter II to cover assigned beats and report, research and write news stories and features for assigned publication(s) in the Environment, Health, and Safety News Division, including Daily Environment Report and Chemical Regulation Reporter.

Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain sources in the government and private sector; maintain awareness of current issues and developments related to assigned beats and publications; coordinate activities with other Bloomberg BNA reporters and editors who cover related beats; originate, propose, and develop story ideas independently, with particular emphasis on analysis of regulatory, legal and industry developments; and develop and maintain subject area knowledge related to the unit’s publications.

Requirements:

2+ years’ experience in journalism, including outside reporting experience; experience related to federal regulatory and legislative news reporting;specialized education related to the environment may be considered in lieu of some experience; working knowledge of journalism principles and techniques; knowledge of federal and state legislative, regulatory, and judicial processes; ability to report and write news stories and features with minimal editing under deadline; ability to develop and cover a beat, including developing sources and story ideas.

He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
