The managing editor will be responsible for developing the infrastructure of The Plug’s remote newsroom operations, creating both culture for readers and subscribers, and the editorial and research team supporting content across Tpinsights.com and it’s social media channels.
As leader of The Plug’s news outfit, the Managing Editor will work closely with the CEO to determine existing and new reporting verticles, investigative projects, and data visualization initiatives that go above and beyond any platform’s coverage of Black innovation.
In addition to managing content production, editing stories, updating the website, and providing direction on social media content, the Managing Editor will take ownership of reaching the following milestones:
-Advance the quality of the reporting and data sets of the stories, edit ruthlessly and improve cadence of stories published for members, subscribers, and licensing partners.
-Double paid subscriber numbers every quarter.
-Build and grow a solid team of reliable freelance reporters nationally and in key international markets.
-Increase The Plug’s publishing cadence from two times per week to daily.
-Develop newsletter strategy and determine role requirements for future hiring.
-Provide effective direction and implement strategy for effectively marketing and promoting stories to gain -maximum visibility of our work.
-Develop strategic partnerships with other publishers for cross-content promotion and deliverability.
Ultimately, bring it every quarter with plans, ideas, and editorial pursuits that go above and beyond, help us to think differently about storytelling and report on what others are missing.
