BizWest, an award-winning publication covering the dynamic business communities of the Boulder Valley and Northern Colorado, is seeking a full-time reporter to cover technology, startups, innovation, venture capital and other beats.

This reporter must demonstrate an ability to relate complicated technologies in an understandable way, to identify new startups and report on trends in the innovation sector of Boulder, Broomfield, Fort Collins, Greeley and other communities. Other beats would include natural & organic companies, the outdoor industry and energy.

Reporter must demonstrate excellent writing ability, thorough knowledge of AP style, the ability to work on multiple stories and projects at once, a willingness to integrate social media into their reporting, and the ability to contribute breaking business news for a variety of electronic newsletters on a daily basis. Experience with photography, video and a CMS such as WordPress is a plus.

This position would be based in Boulder, but reporters are expected to meet sources throughout our coverage area, which includes Boulder, Broomfield, Larimer and Weld counties. Our company has evolved far beyond just print publications into a multimedia company providing business news, economic statistics and data via our websites and in numerous print newspapers and magazines.

To apply, send clips, a resume and a cover letter explaining how you’d cover the beat to executive editor Chris Wood at cwood@bizwest.com.
