BioPharm Insight seeks investigative reporter

BioPharm Insight, part of the Financial Times Group, is seeking a highly motivated individual to join its New York team as an Investigative health care reporter.

The individual will cover both drug development and licensing deals in the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors — including R&D, licensing opportunities, M&A, regulatory issues, reimbursement, litigation and general industry trends.

THE ROLE

– We are seeking an investigative journalist in our New York office to cover the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors as well as drug development regulations and reimbursement.

– Conduct interviews with high-level regulatory officials, physicians, consultants and industry executives to provide forward-looking intelligence on R&D activities as well as uncover new industry trends, facts and break news daily.

– Research industry trends and keep on top of new developments.

– Attend health care and investor conferences.

PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

– The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of the drug development process and health care industry

– Previous experience on a daily or weekly publication preferred

– A minimum of two years of relevant experience preferred

– Excellent communication, reporting, interviewing and writing skills required

-Ability to perform to a high standard under strict deadline pressure required

– Team-oriented approach with ability to work in an interactive news room environment

– Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Journalism and/or science-related field) required

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.
