Baton Rouge Business Report seeks a staff writer

Baton Rouge Business Report, the leading source of news for Baton Rouge area businesses and professionals, is seeking a versatile and enterprising reporter to take on the role of staff writer.

DUTIES

The staff writer is responsible for developing and producing original content for the bi-monthly magazine and, on occasion, for Daily Report, Business Report’s twice-daily e-newsletter. Articles for the magazine will range from brief items and professional profiles to large feature stories and cover packages that also require infographics, sidebars, tip sheets, timelines and multimedia. Being able to multitask and produce high quality content in a fast-paced, deadline-orientated environment is key to being successful in this position. The position also requires the ability to collaborate with editors regularly to develop original enterprise stories and produce compelling content for our readers. A commitment to excellence, accuracy, integrity and ethical practices in the newsgathering and writing process is a must.

EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate will have one to three years of experience in news gathering and writing in a fast-paced, deadline-orientated setting. Experience with WordPress, Google Docs and data visualization tools is preferred.

EDUCATION

A minimum of a four-year college degree in journalism or related field is required.
