Barrett News Media seeks a news media editor/writer

Barrett News Media is looking for a passionate, creative, organized, and hard-working editor to work with our writing team and manage our daily content. This position will specifically focus on news media industry coverage. There is zero involvement with our sports brand, Barrett Sports Media.

Daily duties will include:

  • Finding and writing original news stories on the news/talk radio, news television, and news media advertising business
  • Managing the look, content flow, and creative direction of our online brand.
  • You’ll connect daily with our social media and newsletter editors
  • Expected to possess media industry experience, strong fact checking skills, good grammar, and an ability to perform in a remote setting.

The chosen individual for this role should be:

  • Highly interested in news/talk radio and TV personalities and brands
  • Be able to write compelling news stories, features and headlines without injecting personal bias into our coverage of the media industry.
  • Social media and SEO skills are preferred, as well as a self-starter mentality.
  • Given that this position involves talking to people on our team and broadcasters across the country, we’re looking for a relationship builder not a hardcore journalist whose only focus is nailing the story.

This is a FT Monday thru Friday position. Please understand that we cover the news media business, not the world of news, politics or sports. If you’re not familiar with Barrett News Media, visit BarrettNewsMedia.com or find us on social media to get a better feel for the brand before reaching out.
