Bankrate.com seeks retirement reporter

Bankrate.com is looking for a sharp, innovative reporter to cover all financial aspects of retirement. This beat includes investing for retirement, reverse mortgages and retirement savings vehicles, including IRAs and CDs.

The reporter’s goal is to guide readers to financial success in retirement. The position is based in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

Ideal candidates will have experience writing for consumers and developing relevant sources. The reporter will develop and write engaging articles, quizzes and interactive features, using data to tell the story.

The reporter will respond quickly to news events, explaining to consumers how it affects them. Social media experience is necessary, as is familiarity with writing for search optimization.

The reporter must clearly understand and closely follow the retirement and reverse mortgage industries. The ideal candidate thinks beyond the news, detecting trends, digging up data and predicting unintended consequences and benefits.

We are seeking a reporter who is or can become an expert on all personal finance topics related to retirement and has a passion for great, innovative storytelling.

Responsibilities
• Actively follow and report on the retirement, investing and reverse mortgage industries.
• Develop and maintain relationships with industry sources.
• Come up with ideas and create retirement content in story form, blogs, quizzes and interactives.
• Be engaged in social media, staying current with trends in social media.
• Understand SEO value and employ best practices for SEO.
• Attend industry conferences to speak about retirement topics.
