March 13, 2023

Posted by Mariam Ahmed

Overview Headquartered in Brentwood, TN, Bank Director is a dynamic, diverse and profitable privately-held media company. Since our start in 1991, we have focused on the informational, educational and training interests of C-level executives and members of the boards of financial institutions. Today, these key leaders trust our team and products to keep pace with their ever-changing landscape. We do so through Bank Director magazine, BankDirector.com, exclusive conferences, research reports, a comprehensive membership program and various social media channels. Several years ago, we created a new brand, FinXTech, that focuses on connecting our audience of bank leaders with technology partners at the forefront of innovation.

Job Summary

As part of a collaborative team, the Fintech Editorial Manager will:

  • Create strong fintech-related editorial content to grow our audience of senior-level bankers who make strategic decisions for their banks.
  • Take ownership of the “beat” of finding stories related to the intersection of banking and financial technology.
  • Create relationships that lead to exclusive reporting.
  • Come up with ideas for new projects, research reports, podcasts or other inventive ways to build on our existing audience.

Responsibilities

Essential duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Being the main editorial lead for our monthly technology newsletter, with a focus on the intersection of banking and fintech. This entails coming up with ideas that would be interesting to an audience of senior leaders at financial institutions.
  • Being responsible for reporting a weekly journalistic article of 750 to 900 words, editing about four thought leadership tech-related articles and videos weekly, hosting occasional webinars and virtual peer exchanges with sponsors, working on occasional quarterly research pieces of 20 to 36 pages each, proofing the monthly newsletter and completing other work as assigned.
  • Being highly organized, interested in trying new things, managing your workload and meeting strict deadlines with minimal oversight. Although this isn’t daily news, there are still many longer-term pieces to plan around.
  • Hosting a monthly podcast on the intersection of banking and fintech.
  • Attending conferences as needed while handling introductions and moderating panel discussions on stage — at least two per year, currently the FinXTech Experience conference in May in Tampa and the Acquire or Be Acquired Conference at the end of January-beginning of February in Phoenix.
  • Engaging on social media where your audience is active, such as LinkedIn and Twitter. ● Completing other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills

  • At least 3 years of experience in journalistic writing and reporting experience covering business for a media organization
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Energy, drive and a desire to grow, learn and try new things ● Organizational skills or project management background
  • If remote, a willingness to travel occasionally to the office (roughly once per quarter) as well as communicating regularly with coworkers using email, Slack, Zoom and phone
  • Work occasional weekends or evenings during busy time periods or at our conferences ● A service mindset toward coworkers: We help each other here and have the desire to be part of a larger organization where all are rewarded for a job well done

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Google and Microsoft Word editing tools, email and Mac computers
  • Experience in copyediting and knowledge of AP Style
  • Experience writing about financial technology and banking
  • Experience generating engagement with an audience on social media
