The Baltimore Business is a part of American City Business Journals, and we are looking for a data journalist to serve as our Research Director, responsible for telling the story of business through data.
ACBJ has recently reinvented its weekly editions and digital products under the guidance of design guru Mario Garcia, and the BBJ needs a dynamic Research Director to create weekly lists and drive our data collection. This is a great opportunity for a person with a passion for research, zeal for accuracy and a love for telling stories with both words and numbers.
The Research Director plays a vital role in our newsroom and is responsible for developing and updating our weekly feature, The List, which breaks down various sectors of our market for our sophisticated audience of business decision makers. The Research Director also works with our team of editors and reporters to develop supplemental information that informs readers about the stories behind the numbers.
The Research Director produces work for online and print publication. The Research Director is responsible for maintaining and expanding the BBJ’s database of companies in Greater Baltimore and other information relevant to business decision makers; producing Lists, directories and other research-based special publications.
The Research Director also participates on enterprise reporting projects with the newsroom team. We’re looking for a candidate with experience in Excel and an ability to learn new computer systems. Attention to detail and the ability to hit deadlines are a must.
If you think you’re a good fit for the job and the BBJ, please send a resume and cover letter to Editor-in-Chief Joanna Sullivan at jsullivan@bizjournals.com.
