Axios seeks business/financial markets reporter

Axios is looking for a sharp, fast writer to cover business and the financial markets each day for our readers.

An ideal candidate will be able to write with speed, voice and authority, for an intelligent but general-interest audience, on the most important business stories of the day, and help “narrate the markets” by explaining the latest release of economic data or pronouncement from the Federal Reserve.

  • 5-10 years of professional experience
  • Ability to write cleanly, clearly and quickly with authority and voice
  • Demonstrated interest in news and the evolution of the media industry
  • Positive attitude and ability to thrive in high pressure news environment

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
