Axios seeks associate producer, podcast

Axios is hiring for an associate producer, podcast who will produce segments for our two flagship daily podcasts, Axios Today, and Axios Re:Cap.

DUTIES:

  • Pitching, booking and pre-interviewing guests
  • Pitching and developing story segments
  • Researching and writing interview prep for hosts
  • Recording interviews, ensuring high quality sound
  • Using Descript and Pro Tools, editing down raw tape into compelling segments
  • Field reporting and gathering scene tape
  • Reporting and producing for other Axios shows and specials, as assigned
  • Prepare show descriptions for website and podcast platforms
  • Lend editorial feedback throughout the editorial process
  • Attend meetings with newsroom and production partners

SKILLS:

  • Experience producing daily news audio in a fast-paced environment
  • A news junkie with knowledge and interest in politics and business, as well as other subject areas
  • Highest standards for journalistic integrity and ethics
  • 1-4 years regular experience using Pro Tools (or another DAW with willingness to learn PT) in a professional environment.
  • Understanding of the podcast landscape and how to innovate
  • Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to produce both daily segments and long-term narrative audio a plus
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects on deadline and work across geographically-dispersed teams
