Axios seeks a Texas editor

We are hiring an Editor located in Texas to help support the production of our daily newsletters!

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the production of daily local news coverage in select markets, specifically Axios Local’s newsletters
  • Work closely with  Axios editorial leadership to adapt Axios’ “Smart Brevity” style to local news, shape how the Local product evolves, and develop synergy between local and national coverage
  • Edit the work of a group of local journalists daily
  • Curate local news coverage to write screens and stories in partnership with Local Reporters when needed
  • Help conceive larger data-driven and analytical stories that are relevant at the local level with connections to national stories of importance
  • Assist with research on important topics, events, and trends driving the conversation in select local markets

Skills required:

  • Editing experience in a fast-paced news environment
  • Experience editing daily newsletters is a plus
  • Experience reporting on a wide range of topics
  • Exceptionally collaborative with experience working across teams to produce quality content
  • Demonstrated knowledge of digital and social media landscape
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to assign and manage multiple stories at once

Base salary: $70,000-$95,000
