Automotive News seeks DC regulatory reporter

Automotive NewsAutomotive News, a growing and dynamic news organization owned by Crain Communications Inc., is seeking a world-class business journalist to cover the automotive regulatory and political beat in Washington, D.C.

This scoop-heavy assignment will offer a front-row seat to the industry’s transition to the Trump administration and to the revolutionary changes impacting the regulation of automobiles, including self-driving vehicles. Applicants should demonstrate a proven track record covering business for a quality news organization.

This position will report to the home office in Detroit and will offer excellent pay and benefits. Relocation package can be negotiated if needed. There will be opportunities for future advancement at our stable, expanding publication.

Basic Qualifications:

At least three years of successful business journalism experience.
Experience working in a newsroom for a reputable news organization.
Bachelors Degree required
Multimedia skills set
Social media familiarity
Self-motivation and comfortable working in a remote position.

Preferences:

Automotive or Federal regulatory coverage experience – preferably both.
Prepared and familiar with covering Capital Hill as needed.
Experience working remotely from team is a plus.
